Meet Nadine Nord, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

My name is Nadine Nord, Licensed clinical Social Worker in the State of Florida. I’m one of the new members of Caring Therapists of Broward’s growing family. Since 2009, I was a Licensed Practical Nurse and have worked with children and older adults in different settings, Home, Assisted Living Facility, Nursing Home, and Hospice. When I became a social worker, I chose to focus especially on grief and everything that accompanied it.

My years of experience as a nurse (being in the home of patients dying and supporting their families going through the process of losing their loved ones), had created in me the need to continue accompanying the caregivers and/or the patient diagnosed with long-lasting diseases. I will continue to be available for the ones feeling overwhelmed, in need of talking to someone, but not knowing who will listen with their heart and will provide empathetic support. Most importantly, I want to continue to work with them and brainstorm relevant and appropriate coping strategies that may assist in alleviating and managing their emotional pain.

I started my journey as a therapist at GriefTREE 3 years ago.  I essentially love to do grief work with adults and older adults on a basis of individual therapy. My technique of predilection is Talk therapy. My therapeutic interventions use different techniques such as Strength Perspective, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus Brief Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Grief Work, Companioning, Gestalt therapy, Psychoeducation on a basis of trauma informed narrative.

My clients usually present with grief/loss issues, including pre/post death of a loved one, separation/death of a relationship, Challenges of long-term caregiving role, Pregnancy loss, Job loss, health loss, Life Transitions issues such as newly to retirement, newly move to a new environment and feeling challenged, as well as the symptoms of Anxiety and Depression eventually associated with the losses.

I’m Christian, my faith helped me to be present and able to instill hope into my clients. I would encourage anyone experiencing losses to please try talking to someone. I’m available to you in the office or virtually. I speak Haitian Creole, French and English.

Life is made of happy events and moments of grief. We wish life’s path were lined only with roses.  Unfortunately, there are mountains and valleys, sunny days and storming nights. Despite all the changes in and around us, one constant never changes “You, I, US”. I know it because I’m still breathing. Be aware you are breathing! Take some time to feel it. It says something, it means something. Shuuuut!!!! You’re alive! You’re breathing!
