Dr. Riki Martinez
Introduction
My name is Dr. Riki Martinez and I am a pre-licensed, early career psychologist. My specialization includes Forensic Psychology and providing treatment for individuals who experience serious and persistent mental illness. I enjoy working with adults facing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, mood disorders (e.g., depression, bipolar disorder), relationship issues, emotion regulation difficulties, addiction, and trauma, while offering a compassionate and integrative approach to therapy.
Grounded in a Humanistic perspective, I provide treatment that focuses on clients’ unique potential and the role their life experiences play in the journey towards self-discovery and growth. I also integrate interventions from a range of evidenced-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to better meet the needs of each client. This personalized approach allows for a flexible and comprehensive treatment strategy that addresses both immediate concerns and long-term goals.
The framework for therapy I aim to create includes a commitment to empathy, culturally-competent care, and a collaborative working relationship. I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to healing and growth, and by fostering a safe and nonjudgmental environment, I focus on empowering clients to explore and overcome the barriers impacting their daily lives.
In addition to therapeutic services, I am experienced in conducting psychological and forensic evaluations for adults, offering a thorough and nuanced understanding of clients’ needs. I hope to help clients achieve their personal goals and find fulfillment and happiness in their lives. I am devoted to supporting clients on their journey toward improved mental health and well-being, aiming to help each individual navigate the complexities of their mental health with confidence and resilience.
