Cátia Coelho
Introduction
I am passionate about the human mind, emotions, behaviors and appreciate the impact a mental health professional's support can have on someone's life. For over 15 years, I've been working with adolescents and adults, supporting them during some of their most challenging times, including those facing anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, eating disorders, anger issues and life transitions. My patients are encouraged to identify what matters to them in life, and set meaningful goals and learn coping strategies that help them overcome some obstacles that they might face on their journey.
Clients may benefit from an integrative approach drawing on CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness and Psychoeducation. I'm a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in Florida, a licensed psychologist in Brazil since 2009 and received my MS in Mental Health Counseling from NSU Florida.
I believe the therapeutic journey is a kind, respectful, empathic and collaborative experience between client and clinician, supporting the individual as a unique being. The approach used will be based on the clients' needs and goals, focused on skills that lead to emotional and mental well being, growth, inner strength, change and happiness.
