Summer Reads

Our summer reads is here!  It’s about halfway through summer.  We’re checking up on you to see if you’ve reached your summer reading goal. Schools recommend that their students read each summer so why shouldn’t the parents?   Imagine this: you’re sitting on the beach and it’s warm outside.  You’ve got a cold and refreshing drink in one hand. In the other hand, you’ve got a book. The sun is shining down on you and you are totally relaxed. Our team of therapists got together to make some recommendations on books for you to add to your summer reading list.

Attached by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller

If you’ve been wondering why your relationship isn’t working or why you can’t find the type of person you’ve been looking for, Attached is a must-read.  This book explains the three different attachment styles people can have. The three attachment styles are anxious, avoidant and secure. The authors have figured out a clever and easy to follow explanation for each attachment style.  By reading this book, you’ll be able to figure out your attachment style. From there, the book gives recommendations on which attachment style will work best for you. This is a book I recommend on a regular basis to my clients.  I’ve read it myself and often use the material in my counseling office in Pembroke Pines, Florida.  My clients learn about their attachment style and how they can best find people suited to them, instead of trying to make it work with someone’s whose attachment style isn’t a good fit.

Confessions & Lessons of a Sexpert: The Ultimate Guide to Intimacy and Better Sex

Do you suffer from low libido, lack of intimacy, low self-confidence and inhibitions in the bedroom, want to spice things up? Even though this is a book that I personally published, I truly believe it is a great self-help guide to help people create intimacy within their relationship and also learn to love themselves, have more confidence in who they are and to be able to open up their minds to being their true authentic sexual self. Even though it's an easy read, this book has a lot of valuable tips that by just implementing a few things throughout the chapters, it can make a world of difference! "Confessions & Lessons of a Sexpert" is a great guide to learn how to appreciate yourself, learn to love your body and be comfortable finding out what makes you tick. Doing this without shame and guilt can make a huge difference in yourself and your relationship in regards to creating a safe place for intimacy to develop and for you to be able to enjoy being a sexual being. I highly suggest this book to anyone wanting to explore how to increase their intimacy, have better sex and feel comfortable and enjoy doing it. It is also a great read for therapists who work with couples to get some ideas on how to get their clients a little bit closer to the bedroom.
