Why Online Counseling is Here to Stay in Mental Health
Posted: September 30, 2021
The pandemic opened the doors for online counseling, Telehealth and virtual therapy. A lot of therapists were not set up for this type of therapy. I remember when it started to set in that a lot of therapists would need to transition to online counseling. Therapists were panicking. What platform should they use? How would their clients take payment? Would online counseling sessions feel the same as in person counseling sessions? I could feel the fear in so many Facebook posts I read.
Luckily for Caring Therapists, we were basically set-up for online counseling because we work with a lot of college students who go off to state colleges and want to continue to use our services. We were able to implement our systems quickly and easily to be able to provide the entire state of Florida online counseling sessions.
It’s been a year and a half of COVID and we’re all tired of it. I’m tired of it. Our clients are tired of it. Our therapists are tired of it. While we are waiting for the numbers to go down and COVID to be under control, one thing is clear: online counseling is here to stay!
We have found that a lot of people enjoy the flexibility online counseling has to offer. A lot of people do their sessions during their lunch breaks. No longer do people have to take time to drive to their appointment, go to their appointment and then drive home. Now, all you need is your phone and an internet connection to jump on your online counseling session.
With online therapy and Telehealth sessions, therapists are now able to reach people within their entire state, thus increasing access to mental health services to a variety of populations that may not have had access before.
Caring Therapists is proud to be offering virtual and online counseling sessions, as well as in-person sessions for anyone who wants to be seen face to face. We will continue to offering online therapy throughout the state of Florida even after the pandemic passed. We don’t think we’ll be alone in that venture!
