Claudine Petit-Frere is a registered Social Work Intern in the State of Florida and provides bi- lingual services in English and Creole. She received her bachelor’s from Florida Atlantic University in Social Work and her master’s from Walden University in Advanced Clinical Social Work. Her specialty is in working with school-age children with behavior, anxiety, depression, and academic issues. She has over 10 years of experience in the community working as a volunteer at Hands Together for Haitians Inc. formerly known as Hands Together of the Palm Beaches in Lake Worth Florida.
Claudine concentrates on two main approaches, such as person-centered, which require clients to actively take control during each session, while the therapist acts as a guide and a source of support for clients. Cognitive therapy focuses on clients identifying their negative thoughts and feelings and replacing them with positive and more accurate ones. Claudine also employs play therapy techniques when working with children from the age of 5-10 years old. Play therapy helps children explore, communicate, and safely experience the problem they are working through. She works on establishing a safe space for her clients to feel free to share their thoughts openly.
