“I’m so glad we found each other! I can’t wait to support you and your child.”
Hi, I’m Jackie. I’m a Jersey girl and preschool teacher turned therapist. After I graduated from New York University with my Master’s in Social Work in 2013, I moved to Miami and have had the privilege to work with countless families in schools, community mental health, foster care and prevention, Juvenile Justice, early childhood and Infant Mental Health, and running a program for at-promise youth in Miami-Dade County. In these settings, I have helped children, teens, and adults work through symptoms of depression, trauma, mood disorders, ADHD, and my specialty: anxiety.
The work of therapy is important to me for many reasons, including my identity as a first gen Latina and my own family history. Having a therapist who understands you is not a privilege, it’s a necessity. Because of my own experiences, I’m passionate about helping children and teens navigate anxiety and collaborating with their parents to best support them. In the therapy room, I gently guide my clients towards achieving their goals, but I’m not afraid to be direct and give a (gentle) push if I feel it’s in my client’s best interest. I’m trained in Trauma Informed Care, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Techniques, Nurturing Parenting, Post-Traumatic Stress Management and Psychological First Aid, and certified in Parent Child Interaction Therapy. I have plans to become trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to better serve my clients.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you and helping you get started!
