Facing difficult challenges in our lives can be frightening, however it can be a time for healing and growth. Each of us has a unique path, but sometimes on this path we end up feeling stuck. Sometimes we do not recognize what makes us feel stuck. Maybe it is trauma that we are not ready to discuss, maybe it’s the loss of a loved one, or maybe it is struggling to balance what to hold on to and what to let go of. My personal saying that I live by is “in order to heal you must feel”. Allow me to support you on this path, together we will process your thoughts and feelings without judgment, while accessing your strengths to heal and become “unstuck”.
A little about myself: I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Florida International University and earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. My clinical experience includes working with individuals 18 and older at a crisis stabilization unit providing individual, group, couple and family counseling, and suicide intervention for clients experiencing crisis and/or experiencing acute exacerbation of mental health symptoms.
I also have experience working with children, adolescents, parents and families by providing individual and family therapy to assist families with emotional support, positive parenting skills, treating issues associated with foster care, and providing adoption therapy. I have experience working with a wide range of childhood issues including infant mental health, trauma, sexual/physical abuse, grief/loss, mood disorders, divorce issues, anger issues, anxiety, family issues, school adjustment issues, etc.
I see therapy as teamwork and it is my goal to partner with you through your journey. I find it important to build a strong therapeutic alliance that allows us to work collaboratively to meet your goals, while I strive to create a safe space that facilitates vulnerability, connectedness, awareness and growth. I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, and adults that want to address various issues such as trauma, mood disorders, and ADHD.
I believe in offering an integrative approach where I focus specifically on the needs of the client. I have applied Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in my practices.
